The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish languages, while the year the year 2016 featured four. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Billboard Top 100. The year 2020 will see the number will increase to 41 songs in this category. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in the year. Soon after, popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), and Madonna worked with Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream. Yet, a young generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted practice.
