Bonanza was among the first westerns on television to show in color. The story revolved around the Cartwrights who were a fictional family of ranchers that lived in close proximity to Virginia City Nevada a real mining town in the mid 1800s. In the episode Marie My Love, he played Cartwrights' youngest son. The mother of the family was French Creole origin.
